Planes, Rains, and Spiders.

This past week was very relaxed as far as planning went but rather full of education.  We got lucky enough to catch a fly land on a spider's web and the aftermath.  The kids were really surprised (I was, too!) to watch the spider haul the wrapped fly up the web into the corner.  It launched us into a question and answer session on spiders. 

We explored how plastic floats.  The larger the floating plastic piece, the more weight it takes to push it down, as well. 

Bug has been taking great care of his plant, as well.  He started the seeds (our fourth attempt) and he has obviously learned from his mistakes.  His seeds have grown into nice sized seedlings!

 There was a plane with a propeller but I did not get a shot without full facial.

This week's field trip was to a local beach but we did not feel well so we didn't go so as to avoid getting our friends sick.  The oldest decided that he is extremely frustrated with learning cursive as he's learned to print already.  (Though, most of his print is a mixture of capitalization and lower case letters to form a word.  He is trying, still.)  He enjoyed writing cursive letters in colored sand until he realized he was learning to write.  Once he figured out what was going on, he decided he was much happier trying to build a pyramid.  We worked on compound words.  He picked this up with speed! There were quite a few word math problems, as well, with addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
